Monsters Born and Made by Tanvi Berwah is a South Asian-inspired young adult fantasy novel about a 16-year-old girl, Koral, who must enter a deadly chariot race to save her family from debt and her sister from illness. To do so, she must capture and tame dangerous sea monsters called maristags, defying the island's oppressive elite rulers and competing against them in the dangerous Glory Race.
